Three Culturally Inclusive Books Your Students Will Love

Our Class is a Family

By Shannon Olsen

One of my FAVORITE books to read to my students. I teach 5th grade, and even the older kiddos enjoyed the idea of the book. It opens up many different discussions, and students can relate to different parts.

The Colors of Us

By Karen Katz

This book would be a great book to pair with an activity using the skin colored crayons/markers/paint to experiment the different skin tones in class. This book helps children understand that no two are the same.

Everybody Cooks Rice

By Norah Dooley

This book is a multicultural picture book that explains that everyone does in fact cook rice, but we all cook it differently. Students can interpret this both literally, or figuratively for those that are older.
